Quickly it is.

1/2 of the sugar to bake the cake, 3/8 of it to make tarts, means we've used

\frac 1 2 + \frac 3 8 = \frac 4 8 + \frac 3 8 = \frac 7 8

so there's only

1-\frac 7 8= \frac 1 8

left.

That's the fraction left; the amount of sugar left is

\frac 1 8 \cdot \frac 4 5 = \frac 1 {10} = 0.1 \textrm{ kg}

I forgot Q16.

Let c be the capacity of the jug

\frac 4 9 c + 650 = \frac 4 5 c

650 = \frac 4 5 c - \frac 4 9 c = (36c)/(45) - (20c)/(45)=(16c)/(45)

(45)/(16)(650) = (14625)/(8) \approx 1828.1

Check: I'll check the exact answer; I don't like approximations.

(4)/(9)\cdot(14625)/(8) = (1625)/(2)

(4)/(5)\cdot(14625)/(8) = (2925)/(2)

(2925)/(2)-(1625)/(2) =(1300)/(2) = 650 \quad\checkmark
