full faith and credit clause; the main aim of the clause was to unify the states. It called for respect and honor of other states legislation,and laws.
defense of marriage act(1996) the united state federal law defined marriage only as a union of married men and women and called for states to reject state laws that protected same sex marriage. The act was ruled unconstitutional on the basis of full faith and credit clause and on liberty grounds.
