Formula

Temperature midnight = noon - temperature drop

Givens

temperature drop = 28.4

temperature midnight = -1.9

Temperature noon = x

Solution

-1.9 = x - 28.4 Add 28.4 to both sides

-1.9 + 28.4 = x-28.4+28.4 Combine

Answer

26.5 = x
