A stroke damages a portion of Mr. Lewis’s temporal lobe. His long-term memory may be damaged as a result. The inner part of the temporal lobe, which is called the medial temporal lobe, contains the limbic system. The limbic system includes the hippocampus and amygdala, which play a role in memory. The hippocampus plays a much bigger role in memory, it is responsible for the conversion of short-term to long-term memory.
