Besides cultivating liberty gardens, American women contributed to the war effort by:

1) Rationing food- Limiting the amount of bread, butter, and other resources showed a commitment to the war effort. Rationing food allowed for the US government to send more of these supplies to soldiers serving overseas.

2) Working in factories- During World War II, millions of women joined the workforce, taking over jobs left by men who were serving in the military overseas. These women served in several different factories, including ones that made ammunition and weapons.
