Answer:

The person that traveled throughout the colonies often bringing listeners to tears and having a great impact on the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was George Whitefield.

Step-by-step explanation:

George Whitefield was an English preacher, one of the founders (along with John Wesley) and leaders of the Protestant Methodist Church. Unlike Wesley, he adhered to the teachings of Calvinism on predestination.

Born in Gloucester, England, in the family of Thomas Whitefield and Elizabeth Edwards, he graduated from college in Oxford. In 1738, Whitefield traveled to North America to establish an orphanage in Georgia. The following year he returned briefly to England, and then again left for the English colonies in the New World. Whitefield made a New England preaching tour, which became one of the most noteworthy episodes of Protestant history in America.

George Whitefield passed away September 30, 1770 in Massachusetts.
