Privileged information is data regarding the treatment and progress of the patient that can be disclosed only with permission of the patient or guardian.

Nonprivileged information is data consisting of ordinary facts which are not related to the treatment and progress of the patient, Not unless the record is in a special service unit of the hospital (like psychiatric unit), the data can be disclosed even without the patient’s permission
