The length and breadth of a land are x m and y m respectively . If perimeter of the land is 420 m, then

a. Write the equation which represent perimeter of land
b. If length of the land is 120 m, then find the breadth

Answer:

90 m

Explanation:

a. Perimeter = 2( length + breadth) 2(x + y)

Answer: Perimeter: 2(x + y) = 420
or 2x + 2y = 420

Using the values given

b.

2x + 2y = 420 (perimeter p= 420)
2(120) + 2y = 420 (length x = 120)
240 + 2y = 420
2y = 420 - 240 = 180 (subtract 240 on both sides)

y = 190/2 = 90 m
