The equation of the linear function: f(x) = mx + b
for x = 0 we have f(0) = m(0) + b = b
In the table: f(0) = -1, then b = -1, therefore answer is f(x) = 3/4x - 1 or f(x) = 3/2x - 1
Calculate the value of the function for x = 4:
f(x) = 3/4x - 1f(4) = 3/4 · 4 - 1 = 3 - 1 = 2 ≠ 5 WRONG
f(x) = 3/2x - 1f(4) = 3/2 · 4 - 1 = 3 · 2 - 1 = 6 - 1 = 5 CORRECT
Your answer is: y = 3/2x - 1
