The amount of time t (in minutes) that it takes to put out a fire varies inversely with G, the volume of water used (in hundreds of gallons). When G is 8, t is 12. Find how long it takes to put out a fire when 200 gallons of water (G = 2) are used.

A. 192 Min
B. 48 Min
C. 3 Mins
D. 1.33 Min

The correct answer would be 48 min. (Choice B)

In an inverse relationship, we multiply the 2 variables together to get a constant.

Our equation would be:

GT = C If we plug in the numbers we have:

8(12) = 96

Now, lets solve the equation for T when G is 2.

2T = 96
T = 48
