There was an increased need for Mother Houses in the United States because there was a dramatic increase in the number of children in families of single mothers that caused a reasonable concern among the public and the policymakers. According to the researchers, such increase in single-parent families, most especially mother and child families, could cause a major factor that would lead to an increase in child poverty in the US.
