the legislative, executive and judicial branches are the three branches of gov. Amd they keep eachother in check to avoid the imbalance of power.

separation of powers ensures that no one branch of government has more power than another. for example, the legislative branch can write laws, but the judicial branch can declare those laws unconstitutional
