Colonists are people who migrate to another country which is ruled over or colonized by their mother country.

For example, the British are known to be colonists and their thirteen colonies were: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina and Rhode Island and the Providence Plantations.

According to some written accounts, the British colonists believed they are British Citizens and that they deserve to represent the Parliament, while their government consider them as an inferior citizen.

On the night of the war, 40% of the British colonists in the American colonies even considered themselves loyal to Great Britain that some even fought in loyalists units against the American forces.

To answer the question, most likely, the answer is C. They identify with the British, more than their neighbors.
