What is the difference in origin between deep-sea muds and oozes?

The difference between an ooze and deep-sea mud in terms of origin is that oozes are from materials of which 30 percent is composed of skeletal remains of floating microorganisms. Meanwhile, a deep-sea mud is from inorganic materials which do not consist of or are not derived from any living matter.
