This war is known as the Persian Gulf War.
The Persian Gulf War took place between 1990-1991. The United States, along with the United Nations, got involved due to the aggressive acts of Iraq against Kuwait. Sadam Hussein, leader of Iraq, claimed that Kuwait was originally part of Iraq as a means to justify his invasion. However, this claim to the land was not valid or recognized by any nations that were part of the United Nations. In the end, the US and United Nations were able to free Kuwait from Iraqi rule.
