2 Answers:

Choice B) irrational

Choice F) Natural

=====================================================

Reason:

Let's go through the answer choices.

  • A) The value 0 is a real number. A real number is any thing you can think of such as 2/3 or
    √(93) or 10.657 or 22, assuming your teacher hasn't covered imaginary or complex numbers. This rules out choice A.
  • B) This is one of the answers. See choice C for further explanation
  • C) The value 0 is rational since 0 = 0/1 is a fraction of two integers, where the denominator is nonzero. Since 0 is rational, it means it cannot be irrational. The term "irrational" means "not rational". Therefore, we can conclude that 0 is not in the set of irrational numbers. This is why choice B is one of the answers, and why we can rule out choice C.
  • D) The set of integers is {...., -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ...} which consists of positive and negative whole numbers. We also have 0 in this set. So choice D is ruled out.
  • E) The set of whole numbers is {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ...} which has 0 in it. We can rule out choice E.
  • F) The set of natural numbers is very similar to the whole numbers, but one key difference: zero is missing. The natural numbers is {1, 2, 3, 4, ...} which shows that choice F is the other answer
