A manufacturer inspects 500 personal video players and finds that 496 of them have no defects. The manufacture sent a shipment of 2000 video players to a distributor. Predict the number of players in the shipment that are likely to have no defects.

The first thing to do is find the percentage of number of players with no defects.
For this, we make the following rule of three:
500 --------> 100%
496 --------> x
Clearing x we have:
x = (496/500) * (100)
x = 99.2%
Then, for 2000 video players we have:
(2000) * (0.992) = 1984

The number of players in the shipment that are likely to have no defects are:
1984
