Part a) How are L, W and related?

we know that

in the rectangle of the figure

applying the Pythagoras theorem

d²=W²+L²

the answer part a) is

W²+L²=d²

Part b) If L is 7 units long and W is 5 units long How long is the diagonal to the nearest tenth

d²=W²+L²

W=5 units

L=7 units

so

d²=5²+7²-----> d²=25+49-----> d²=74-----> d=√74----> d=8.6 units

the answer part b) is 8.6 units
