What does this mean? :
The given quote means that unless you face the problem, you will never be able to change anything. For example, if you have a flat tire, you may not always be able to fix it. If the tire has a hole in it, then airing it up will be pointless. But, if you never look at the tire to see that it is flat, you will not be able to have the opportunity to try and fix it.
What in terms of our national history, our current society, our world, our community, and the things that impact our every day life is or is not faced? :
There are many things in today's world that we often do not face. Some examples include, apologizing to someone for saying something rude, making a mistake and blaming it on someone else, or even as simple as cleaning your room. There are a number of reason people give for not doing something.
Should it be confronted for the sake of progress or shouldn't it be confronted for the sake of the progress?:
We should always confront a problem for the sake of our progress. Even if you don't get everything resolved the way you hoped to, you will still feel better at the end of the day for trying. As long as you make the step, or effort to fix something, you are in the clear.
My two younger sisters share a room. their room only stays clean for a maximum of 3 days. My mom tells them to clean their room and one of them always comes back with "I cant clean until she does," or "I don't want to have to do all the work." This makes my mom frustrated. All they need to do is get in there and pick up what they know that they did. When my mom sees that they are doing what they are told and making progress, she may even let them stop for a bit or they may get the opportunity to have a treat later.
