we have that
wide=4 ft
deep=1 1/2 ft----> 3/2 ft
high=1/2 ft
we know that
surface area of the box=2*area of the base+perimeter of the base*high
area of the base=wide*deep----> 4*3/2----> 6 ft²
perimeter of the base=2*(4+1.5)---> 11 ft
surface area of the box=2*6+11*(1/2)----> 17.5 ft²
the answer is
17.5 ft²
