The formula below gives the Fahrenheit temperature F in terms of the Celsius temperature C.

f=9/5C+32

a. Transform the formula to find the Celsius temperature in terms of the Fahrenheit temperature.

b. Use a calculator to find the equivalent Celsius temperature for a Fahrenheit temperature of 60ºF. Round your answer to the nearest tenth.

F=(9)/(5)C+32\\\\a.\ (9)/(5)C+32=F\ \ \ \ |-32\\\\(9)/(5)C=F-32\ \ \ |\cdot(5)/(9)\\\\C=(5)/(9)(F-32)

F=60\to C=(5)/(9)(60-31)=(5)/(9)\cdot29\approx16.1\\\\\boxed{60^oF\approx16.1^oC}

C=42\to F=(9)/(5)\cdot42+32=75.6+32=107.6\\\\\boxed{42^oC=107.6^oF}
