we know that
surface area of a sphere=4*pi*r²

if the radius is divided by 2
then
new surface area of a sphere=4*pi*(r/2)²----> (1/4)*[4*pi*r²]
so
the new surface area is a quarter of the original

the answer is
the new surface area is a quarter of the original
