Roosevelt believed that it was necessary for the United States to spread democracy by force. If a country was being a colony of a European country or if it had a totalitarian regime, Roosevelt was open to invading that country and implementing democratic means by force. He believed that it was the duty of United States to be like a police to the free world

Wilson on the other hand was against imperialism and believed that democracies must be achieved but that no country has the right to colonize another country and that countries have a right to self-determination. This is why he apologized formally to numerous Latin American countries where Roosevelt had intervened

Taft was a president who believed that economy was the key in solving issues and he practiced dollar diplomacy. This was a form of diplomacy in which he would help pro-US regimes in other countries take power and then the regimes would trade with United States and earn money while the US would also prosper. This made the countries a sort of economic colonies since they depended on US made goods.
