1.Substitute y in with 1-3x

2. Now you have 5x+2(1-3x)=y

3. Distribute 2 through the parentheses to get 5x+2-6x=6

4. Combine like terms -1x+2=6

5. Subtract 2 from both sides to get -1x=4

6.Divide by -1 on both sides to get x=-4
