Answer:

$3600 will be earned , if the auditorium is filled to capacity

Explanation:

Given:

Seating capacity of the school auditorium = 800

Cost of Adult tickets = $6

Cost of Student tickets = $4

Three times as many students attended as adults

To Find :

Amount that will be earned if the auditorium is filled to capacity = ?

Solution:

Let

The number of students be s

the the number of adults be a

then

Three times as many students attended as adults

Number of students = 3 x number of adults

s = 3a

Total number of seats or tickets that can be sold = 800

so

s + a = 800

3a+a = 800

4a =800

a =
(800)/(4)

a= 200

So the number of adult = 200

Number of children = 3a = 3(200) =600

Now total amount earned =

=>(Number of adults X cost per adult ticket) + (Number of children X cost per children ticket)

=> (200 X 6) + (600 X 4)

=>(1200) +(2400)

=>3600
