In 1962, Thompson reported that among 840 children in a population from Ghana, 701 had the
genotype HBB*A/*A, 135 had the genotype HBB*A/*S, and 4 had the genotype HBB*S/*S. Fromthese observations determine the frequency of the HBB*S and HBB*A alleles and determine whether or not the population is at Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.
