A plane has an airspeed of 120 km divided by hkm/h. It is flying on a bearing of 81degrees° while there is a 27 km divided by h27 km/h wind out of the northeast (bearing 225degrees°). What are the ground speed and the bearing of the plane?

Answer:

Ground speed is 61.67 km /h.

Explanation:

Ground speed of aircraft is obtained b the sum of aircraft speed minus the current speed and direction.

For this the given formula is

81-27 cos (255 - 81 )

53.704 km/h

27 sin ( 225 - 81 ) = 2.822 km /h

so ground speed =
√((53.704 ^2 + 2.822)^2)

= 61.67 km /h
