Answer:

Length of larger side is 6.7 ft and Length of Shorter side is 3.65 ft.

Explanation:

Given:

Total Piece of wood = 10 feet

Let the length of Longer piece be x.

Also Given:

The shorter piece is 2.7 feet shorter than the longer piece.

Hence we say that;

Length of Shorter piece =
x-2.7

Now the wood Desktop is cut in two piece.

Hence we can say that Total piece of wood is equal to sum of Length of Larger piece and length of Smaller piece.

Total Piece of wood = length of Longer piece + Length of Shorter piece

Now Substituting the values we get;

x+x-2.7=10\\2x-2.7=10\\2x=10+2.7\\2x= 12.7\\\\x=(12.7)/(2) = 6.35 \ ft

Now Length of Shorter side =
x-2.7=6.35-2.7 = 3.65 \ ft

Hence Length of larger side is 6.7 ft and Length of Shorter side is 3.65 ft.
