Answer: Mary ran the farthest.

Explanation:

To be able to see who ran the farthest you have to find the GCD (greatest common denominator) of all the denominators 4, 3, and 8, which turns out to be 24. If you multiply all the fractions, numerator and denominator, by what makes each individual denominator equal to 24, you can find the biggest one.

4 times 6 is 24, 3 times 8 is 24, and 8 times 3 is 24, so you multiply each fraction by those respective numbers to get 3/4 = 18,24, 2/3 = 16/24, and 3/8 = 9/24.

So, Mary ran the farthest.
