Answer:
Thomas & Chess would categorize their temperament as difficult.
Step-by-step explanation:
Temperament is defined as child's early appearing fluctuations in emotional responses & attitude to environment.Child's temperament is a consequence of biological as well as environmental factors which are working in combination throughout the child's development from conception rather than a genetic basis.
There are three types of temperament which are categorized by the researchers Thomas & Chess: easy, difficult & slow to warm up temperament. Easy temperament is defined by routinely body functions, favourable approach to current situations, fast adaptability, good mood & non intense reaction to stimulus.Raising of these children is very easy because they respond positively to various child raising practices. They easily adapt themselves to different parental handling.
Difficult temperament is defined by asymmetrical body functions, slow adaptability, bad mood & intense reaction to stimulus. It includes loud & constant crying & are difficult to soothe. They mostly wake up at night & trouble going back to sleep state. They are also named as high need or colic babies.Raising these children is difficult from the get go.
Slow to warm up temperament is defined by slow activity level as well as slow intensity of reaction although they also withdraw themselves from the new situations, slow adaptability & somewhat negative mood.
