a) this shape can be divided into 5 individual squares. The area of each square is 5cm x 5cm, or 25 cm^2. We can multiply this by 5 to get the shapes total area: 125 cm^2

b) one of the shapes present is a triangle. It’s area is 1/2bh, or 1/2(6)(8). The area is 24m^2. The area of the square is 9m x 6m = 54m^2. We add these two to get the total area of the shape: 78m^2

c) A line can be drawn separating the shape into two rectangles. One rectangle can be shown having a width of 3cm and a length of 10cm. We multiply this to get an area of 30cm^2. We need to find the length of the second rectangle before we can find the area. We can do this by subtracting 3cm from 12cm to get 9cm. We now multiply 9x2=18. The area is 18cm^2. Add this to 30 to get the shapes total area of 48cm^2.
