Answer: Their relationship would be regarded as oppositional. Multicollinearity reduces the true correlations to the criterion variable because of the shared correlations between the IVs. The suppressor variable serves to increase the correlation between an IV and the criterion variable via it’s statistical relationship with the IV. This role of the suppressor variable is uncommon in statistics.
