Answer:

x + 1

Explanation:

(x² − x − 2) / (x − 2)

Factor the numerator. Using the AC method:

ac = (1)(-2) = -2

Factors of -2 that add up to -1 are -2 and 1

Divide by a and reduce: -2/1 and 1/1

The factors are (x − 2) and (x + 1)

(x − 2) (x + 1) / (x − 2)

Divide:

x + 1

Answer:

(x+1)

Explanation:

(x^2-x-2)/(x-2)=(x+1)

Because (x-2)(x+1)=x^2-2x+x-2=x^2-x-2.
