Two trains leave Boston at the same time traveling in opposite directions. One train travels qt a rate of 35 miles per hour, while the other train travels at a ratw of 63 miles per hour. How many hours will it be before the trains are 441 miles apart

Can someone please explain how to do this problem?​

4.5 hours

Explanation:

Given: Train running in opposite direction

Speed of one train (
S_1)= 35 mph

Speed of one train (
S_2)= 63 mph

Distance to be covered = 441 miles

Train is running in opposite direction, so their relative speed =
(S_1 + S_2)

Relative speed =
(35 + 63) = 98 mph

Now, time taken to travel 441 miles apart

Time =
(\textrm Distance)/(\textrm relative speed)

Time=
(441)/(98) = 4.5 hours

∴ Times taken to travel 441 miles apart is 4.5 hours
