Answer:

Candle maker sold 10 Small Candles.

Explanation:

Given:

A candle maker sells small candles for
10\$ and large candle for
20\$

Let the number of Small candles be
x

Let the number of Large candles be
y

Total candles sold is 20.

x+y=20 \ \ \ \ equation \ 1

He makes overall
300 \$

10x+20y=300\\10(x+2y)=300\\x+2y=(300)/(10)=30\\x+2y=30 \ \ \ \ equation \ 2

Subtracting equation 1 by equation 2 we get,

(x+2y=30)-(x+y=20)\\y=10

Substituting value of y in equation 1 we get,

x+y=20\\x+10=20\\x=20-10\\x=10

Candle Maker sold 10 Small candles and 10 Large candles.
