5x-2y=-10

Using elimination method multiply equations 1 by 5 & equation 2 by 2 this is to eliminate x

10x -25y= -20

20x -4y= -20

Subtracting equation 2 from 1

We have -21y =0 so y =0

Substitute y=0 into any of the two equations and you have that

10x -4(0) =-20

10x-0= -20

10x=-20

X= -20/10

So therefore

X= -2

Remember you multiplied by 10 at the beginning so you have to divide now by 10

So x= -0.2 & y=0
