Answer: x = 16

Step-by-step explanation: To find x, you just need to divide both sides of the equation by 5/8. We do this to get rid of the 5/8 attached to the x; the opposite operation of division is multiplication, so it cancels 5/8 out, leaving only the x. If we do something to one side, we must do the same to the other!

Remember, dividing fractions is the same as multiplying by its reciprocal, which in this case, is 8/5:

8/5 · 5/8x = 8/5 · 10

x = 80/5

x = 16

(5)/(8) x = (10)/(1) \\ (x)/(8) = (2)/(1) \\ x = 16
