m=(2xw)-6

Explanation:

Let the number of women in the committee be
w.

Let the number of men in the committee be
m.

Since it is given that the number of men are 6 less than twice the number of women,

Twice the number of women is
2* m

Twice the number less six is
m=2* w -6
-(i)

Since it is given that the committee has a total of 45 members,

the total number of men and women is 45.

So,
m+w=45
-(ii)

using (i) and (ii),

2* w-6+w=45

3* w-6=45\\3* w=51\\w=17

So,m=2* 17 -6\\m=28
