Predating modern legal definitions of a prescription, a prescription traditionally is composed of four parts: a superscription, inscription, subscription, and signature. 2.inscription:this contains the names and quantities of the drugs to be compounded.
3.subscription:this is a part of prescription that contains directions to the pharmacist.
4.signature:that part of prescription that contains the doctor's directions to the patient.
