Answer: Corrie ten Boom

  • Born April 15, 1892 in Haarlem Netherlands. Was youngest of 4 siblings
  • They lived above a watchmaker shop
  • Her mother died in 1921
  • Corrie was the first women to be a licensed watchmaker.
  • The Boom family was part of the Dutch Resistance. They would sneak in materials concealed inside Grandfather Clocks. The family built a hideout for refugees whenever the police came, ringing a secret bell//buzzer to alert the group.
  • Throughout the years, they cared for many refugee and orphaned children. Corrie would teach Bible lessons and Sunday school.
  • When the Boom family was caught hiding refugees, they were shipped to different concentration camps.
  • Corrie was transported to different camps before being released due to a "Clinical Error". Shortly after this occurrence, all the women in her age group still in the concentration camp were executed.
