y = 1000 + 1200m ................. equation 1

y = 1500 + 1175m ------------ equation 2

Equating the two equations , we have

1500 + 1175m = 1000 + 1200m

collecting the like terms

1500 - 1000 = 1200m - 1175m

500 = 25m

Therefore m = 500/25

m = 20

Therefore it will take 20 months for the costs to be the same
