Answer:

  • x = 2
  • y = 7
  • x - y = -5

Explanation:

We have been two algebraic expressions which is given below:

  • 4x - y = 1
  • 3x + 2y = 20

We have to find the value of x - y. so we need to find the value of x and y.

4x - y = 1 * 3

3x + 2y = 20 * 4

  • 12x - 3y = 3
  • 12x + 8y = 80

--------------------

-11y = - 77

y = 77/11

y = 7

  • Substitute the value of y in equation 1.

4x - y = 1

4x - 7 = 1

4x = 1 + 7

4x = 8

x = 8/4

x = 2

  • x - y
  • 2 - 7 = -5
  • Therefore, the required value of x, y , and x - y are 2,7 and -5 respectively.
