Explanation:

While doing this problem, just keep in mind that you want to get y by itself.

First, multiply both sides by 3. You do this to cancel out the fraction on the left side. By doing this you are left with 8+2y=3x.

After this you subtract 8 from both sides. Again, you do this to get y by itself. This leaves you with 2y=3x-8.

Finally, divide each side by 2. This is the final step to getting y to be on it's own as you are solving for y. By doing this you are left with the equation y=3/2x-4.
