I picked the musical Grease. This musical makes great use of music to express various aspects of teenage life. It deals with love, friendship, rebellion, and so on. Grease contains peppy songs such as Greased Lightning, Beauty School Dropout, Those Magic Changes, and We Go Together to depict the spirit and vigor of teen years.

In Act 1, Scene 1, the song Alma Mater conveys a touching, sentimental feel in the graduating students of Rydell High. This sets a bittersweet mood for the students because of the lyrics of the song. However, within the same scene, the mood shifts to the Alma Mater Parody, which provides a rock n’ roll beat that goes against the previous sentimental mood. This is a comedic type of tune, and it sets an embarrassing, yet entertaining mood for the students at Rydell High. The song provides a sense of rebellion (in a comic way) and contrasts the change in students’ moods with the change that comes after graduation.

At first this 1990's film was simply a Tim Burton film, but later was adopted onto Broadway in the early spring of 2019. Theatrical performances highly differ from the original movie as special affects created in film production are difficult to produce on stage. Difficulty in redoing certain aspects of the film are challenging to produce while live on stage. Music was a new feature added into the musical as the film only contained 2 lyrical music bits and a soundtrack to blend into the background. In the Broadway show songs were written, produced , and then sung on stage to go along and tell the story. Overall the musical was well developed to fit certain aspects of the movie, of course some bits didn't get added in due to technical issues, but the movie still had the theme portrayed in the Broadway Adaptation.
