If the answer to this function can’t be negative 4 then it rules out the to answers that have the “or equal to” lines. Answer choices A and C says that negative 4 can be an answer to the expression, where the dashed line expressed in the question tells us that negative 4 can not be included. Then it wants us to shade to the left of the graph. The left of the graph is where the numbers become more negative. If you look at the expression X < -4, it says the answers to the expression are less than -4 meaning -6, -10, and -15 all fit the expression. Therefore the shading on the graph for this expression would be to the left of the dashed vertical line drawn on negative 4.
