22 complete cars and half of one car were washed on Sunday.

Solution:

Given that

Drama club held a car wash on Saturday and Sunday.

Total car washed on Saturday and Sunday = 60

Lost
40 \% can on Sunday.

Need to calculate number of car washed on Sunday.

Let assume number of cars they washed on Saturday = x

As they lost
40\% of cars on the Sunday

Number of cars washed on Sunday = Car washed on Saturday –
40\% of car washed on Saturday

\Rightarrow x-40 \% \text { of } x=\mathrm{x}-0.40 x=0.60 x

Total number of cars washed on Saturday and Sunday = Number of cars washed on Saturday + Number of cars washed on Sunday

\begin{array}{l}{\Rightarrow 60=x+0.60 x} \\\\ {\Rightarrow 60=1.6 x} \\\\ {\Rightarrow x=(60)/(1.6)=37.5}\end{array}

So car washed on Sunday =
0.60 x=0.60 * 37.5=22.5 \mathrm{ cars}

That is 22 complete cars and half of one car were washed on Sunday.
