Answer:

She was not distracted by things.

Step-by-step explanation:

Elizabeth Morris' essay "The Tyranny of Things" is a short essay that talks about the cumbersome nature of material things in an individual's life. Morris talks of how one must be so cramped with the things that he/she puts up or have. She also talks of how a person's attention and time and energy is spent on worrying about things that have no such full meaning for her/his life.

In the essay, the speaker talks of how she had once went to stay in a house by the sea. The room was devoid of any unnecessary material thing except some bare necessities. This was what she wanted, n empty space where there is nothing to distract you. Morris states that "There was nothing in the house to demand care, to claim attention, to cumber my consciousness with its insistent, unchanging companionship", which to her was the best thing. She felt free and enjoyed it there, for there ws nothing that could demand her attention.
