The Science Club went on a two-day field trip. The first day the members paid $70 for transportation plus $11 per ticket to the planetarium. The second day they paid $90 for transportation plus $8 per ticket to the geology museum. Write an expression to represent the total cost in dollars for two days for the n members of the club.

Answer:

$(160 + 19 n) is the expression to represent the total cost for two days for n students .

Explanation:

Let total number of student who went to the planetarium = n

Expenses of the FIRST DAY:

Transportation Price = $70

and ticket per head = $11

So, the price for ticket for n students = 11n

So, total expense for First day = $(70 +11 n)

Expenses of the SECOND DAY:

Transportation Price = $90

and ticket per head = $8

So, the price for ticket for n students = 8n

So, total expense for First day = $(90 + 8 n)

Hence, Total cost for TWO DAYS

= Expense of 1st day + Expense of 2nd day

= ( $70 +11 n) + ($90 + 8 n) = $(160 + 19n)

Hence, $(160 + 19n) is the expression to represent the total cost for two days .
