Answer:

y = - 2x + 11

Explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

Rearrange y + 2x = m into this form by subtracting 2x from both sides

y = - 2x + m ← in slope- intercept form

with slope m = - 2

Parallel lines have equal slope, thus

y = - 2x + c ← is the partial equation

To find c substitute (4, 3) into the partial equation

3 = - 8 + c ⇒ c = 3 + 8 = 11

y = - 2x + 11 ← equation of line

Answer:

y +2x = 11

Explanation:

The parallel line will have the same equation with a value for "m" that makes the point lie on the line. Fill in the point values to see what "m" has to be.

y + 2x = m

3 +2·4 = m = 11

The equation of the line is ...

y + 2x = 11
