Li need 3 more pieces of string

Solution:

Given, Li needs 15 pieces of string each
(1)/(2) of a inch long.

She cut a 6-inch piece of string into pieces that are each
(1)/(2) of an inch long.

Now, let us find how many pieces she got from 6 inch string.

\text { Number of pieces }=\frac{\text { length of string available }}{\text { length of each string }}

=(6)/((1)/(2))=6 * (2)/(1)=6 * 2=12

Then, she will get 12 pieces from 6 inch string.

Number of pieces she need more = total number of pieces she need – available pieces

= 15 – 12 = 3

Hence, she need 3 more pieces.
